Holiday Hours

This month we will have the following changes to our usual operating hours:

• Closed all day Monday September 30th for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
• Closed all day Monday October 14th for Thanksgiving

Saturday Hours – On Demand

We will be offering Saturday hours this month. We will be open on an ‘appointment’ basis, only if requested. Please sign up via the online booking system as usual.

Offered dates for Saturday hours this month are:

• Saturday, October 19th – 12pm to 4pm

Researcher Congrats & Kudos

McMaster RDC researcher Ryan Bacic successfully defended his PhD thesis on September 4th! His work, titled “Three Essays on the Economics of Education”, used data from the BC-K12, T1FF, and 2016 Census files. Ryan was co-supervised by RDC researchers Arthur Sweetman and Angela Zheng, and also had Adam Lavecchia on his committee.

And also, McMaster RDC researcher Moyo Sogaolu successfully defended her PhD thesis on September 24th! Her work, titled “Three Empirical Essays on Economic Well-being in Canada”, used data from the LAD, LFS, and Census. Moyo’s thesis committee included Arthur Sweetman, Mike Veall and Adam Lavecchia.

New data sets at the RDC:

Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth (CHSCY) 2023

The Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth (CHSCY) explores issues that have an impact on the physical and mental health of children and youth, such as physical activity, the use of electronic devices, time spent in school and extracurricular activities, mental health, childhood experiences, suicidal thoughts, substance use and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the 2023 iteration of the Canadian Health Survey on Children and Youth follows respondents from the previous cycle (2019), assessing changes over time in health and well-being outcomes of Canadian children and youth.
