New data sets at the RDC:
In the upcoming weeks we will be receiving new data sets and surveys at the McMaster Research Data Centre. Please see the information below. Researchers interested in accessing these data sets are encouraged to submit proposals!

CCHS 2014 Rapid Response on Tanning Equipment Use and Laser Beam Exposure
The Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) collects information on health status, health care use and determinants of health. It relies upon a large sample of respondents and is designed to provide reliable estimates at the regional level. The rapid response component is offered to organizations interested in national estimates on an emerging or specific issue related to the population's health. Provincial estimates may also be yielded from a rapid response, but may be of limited quality.

This rapid response component included questions on the use of sunlamp or tanning equipment, laser beam exposure (such as through laser pointers, cosmetic treatments, toys, or tools), any injuries related to these practices.

Those interested in health, diseases, and health behaviours might find this to be an interesting data set. Further information can be found on the CCHS page at the Statistics Canada website

The McMaster RDC is now accepting proposals for work with this data. For information on the application process, please visit: http://www.statcan.gc.ca/eng/rdc/process
