McMaster Research Data Centre Showcases

McMaster Research Data Centre Showcase 2023

On May 10 2023, the Statistics Canada Research Data Centre (RDC) at McMaster hosted its third showcase.

This showcase was divided into 2 parts. The morning session will described the RDC and its partnership with Data Services in the Mills Library. It also consisted of brief presentations on GIS applications, tips and strategies for the effective use of data (including data linkage and weighting), informing patient care in the pediatric setting, and the exciting potential of education data from the Toronto District School Board.

The afternoon session consisted of a series of brief presentations from current RDC researchers highlighting their work.

 The event was open to all McMaster students, staff and faculty, those working in the RDC as well as potential researchers who are considering making use of Statistics Canada's micro-data files.

On May 18 2022, the Statistics Canada Research Data Centre (RDC) at McMaster hosted its second showcase.

This showcase was divided into 2 parts. The morning session described the RDC and its partnership with Data Services in the Mills Library. It also consisted of brief presentations on GIS applications, the availability of business (including firm-level) data, and linking health administrative files and education data. The afternoon session consisted of a series of brief presentations from current RDC researchers highlighting their work.

The event was open to all McMaster students, staff and faculty, those working in the RDC as well as potential researchers who are considering making use of Statistics Canada's micro-data files.

McMaster Research Data Centre Showcase 2019

On May 22 2019, the Statistics Canada Research Data Centre (RDC) at McMaster hosted its first showcase.

This showcase was divided into 2 parts. The morning session described the RDC and its partnership with Data Services in the Mills Library. The morning also consisted of brief presentations on linked administrative data, Longitudinal Administrative Data (LAD, T1FF tax filer data), Longitudinal Immigration Database (IMDB) and the 2014 Ontario Child Health Study (OCHS). The afternoon session consisted of a series of brief presentations from current RDC researchers highlighting their work.

The event was open to all McMaster students, staff and faculty, those working in the RDC as well as potential researchers who are considering making use of Statistics Canada's micro-data files.
