RDC News update - new application procedure

A new online tool for researchers to submit applications to access Statistics Canada microdata has been launched.

Feb 06, 2020

On January 29, 2020 the Microdata Access Portal (MAP) was launched. The MAP is an online tool for researchers to submit applications to access Statistics Canada microdata. It will be hosted on the Microdata Access page (https://www.statcan.gc.ca/rdc-cdr/eng). The MAP will streamline the application process and accelerate the timelines for researchers to access microdata.

Applicants to the RDCs will be expected to use the MAP moving forward. This means that the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) platform will no longer process applications. New applicants will be redirected to the MAP.

At the same time, in collaboration with the Canadian Research Data Centre Network, a streamlined peer review process has also been developed. A revised application process and guidelines website reflecting these changes will be available upon the launch of the MAP. Webinars are also planned to assist researchers in submitting applications successfully. More information will be communicated in the coming weeks.
